Very easy assembly. It looks like the sanding of the wood was done wrong. The first time I used it, splinters of wood from the guides fell on my bread. The bread could not be cut to the bottom. i give it back Very disappointed with Mother's Day gift.

I have to agree with one of the previous reviewers that it is difficult to cut the cut all the way to the base. Also, a standard 8 inch bead knife isn't long enough to go all the way to the other side. The wood is so soft that it cuts very easily and splits easily.

Was for my mother-in-law whose bread cutting guide broke after decades of use. She is happy about that. It can be folded up to save space and has a crumb trap. I'm not sure if she'll last 60 years like her first, but either way none of us can complain. It seems well done.

A good idea but due to the manufacturing process it's almost impossible to cut a loaf completely. Once you get to the bottom of the grate you can't cut anymore so your slices will only be cut 3/4 through the loaf. I've tried both a power knife and a hand knife with the same results. I was able to slice bread separately (without using this item) and get pretty good slices. This item will be returned.

I bake my own bread from time to time, so slicing my loaves evenly definitely helps. However, when you receive the package, you need to build it up a bit, and there are no instructions on how to do it, and it is made of bamboo and is quite delicate to assemble. So if you're not careful you can break it like I did. . However, there's nothing a little wood glue won't fix. Cleanup is easy as it comes with a drip tray that all the breadcrumbs fall into as you cut.

Not quite "adjustable"; Some of the slots are slightly smaller or larger than others, but that doesn't mean you can customize the slices differently.
