Yes, plastic is too expensive, but it does the job. I noticed someone said only blue works, but that depends on the faucet manufacturer. The blue was too big for my Moen shower faucet, but the red was perfect. The original faucet's 1.5 gpm was too low, but when I removed the throttle it was too high. To quote Goldilocks, 2.5 GPM is spot on.
