Everything I expected

When I saw this book coming out I was so excited because I loved another book by Carla Sonheim, Mixed Media Paint Lab. There are so many exercises in this book that will surprise you every time. It's definitely great if you're in the mood to draw but don't know what to do. There is an exercise that involves looking for shapes in the cracks in the pavement. I love that it actually includes photos of the cracks in the sidewalk. So if you're stuck somewhere and can't find your own sidewalk, you can just use the photos she provided. My husband and I left town and drove for seven hours. I didn't need any help navigating when we reached our destination on a long stretch of freeway and my husband was listening to a football game on the radio. Out of boredom I reached into my watercolor bag and grabbed this book, some paper and a pen. I was able to make two drawings from the photographs of the cracked pavement in the book that looked very interesting. They definitely weren't something I could create without a book, just putting pen to paper. I also like the chapter on making watercolor blobimals. I have friends who have never painted with watercolors before and we all did this exercise together. We all have completely different, interesting and unique "blobimales". We also had a lot of fun because this technique can be done without being a professional artist. I myself am not a "professional artist”. I paint in watercolor just for fun and paint often. This book will be useful for both pros and beginners, or for people like me who just want to play for fun. The exercises in this book range from drawing, painting, paperwork to birch work. Basically, here's something you'll want to try, whether you're into watercolor, pastel, or mixed media artists. Plus, you don't have to go out and buy a bunch of accessories before you can get started. I can't say enough good things about this book. I'm pretty sure this will keep me busy for the rest of my life.
