buy this book!

When I bought this book, I had major reservations. The good reviews convinced me that it was at least worth a try. When it arrived I read the first chapter, then walked the dogs, looking for shapes in the driveway, buildings, and trees. I was scared to try the first exercise so I let all the information cook for a while. My hesitation arose from a two-year break in my work. I'm a realist artist and I just couldn't create anything in two years. Also, I've never drawn imaginary characters…

Everything I expected

When I saw this book coming out I was so excited because I loved another book by Carla Sonheim, Mixed Media Paint Lab. There are so many exercises in this book that will surprise you every time. It's definitely great if you're in the mood to draw but don't know what to do. There is an exercise that involves looking for shapes in the cracks in the pavement. Great for professionals and beginners

I have always illustrated books and articles. My mother was also an illustrator. However, while working on my own children's book series, I was deeply dissatisfied with my numbers. They are good but too realistic. I just couldn't give up traditional imagery and techniques. I thought the cover of this book was cute and the reviews were good so I ordered a copy.
