When I bought this book, I had major reservations. The good reviews convinced me that it was at least worth a try. When it arrived I read the first chapter, then walked the dogs, looking for shapes in the driveway, buildings, and trees. I was scared to try the first exercise so I let all the information cook for a while. My hesitation arose from a two-year break in my work. I'm a realist artist and I just couldn't create anything in two years. Also, I've never drawn imaginary characters, although I've always wanted to. I started the first lesson with the tears the author made with her camera. I couldn't believe how many creatures I saw and started creating. I stayed up all night drawing and painting creative creatures using a simple pencil, permanent black pen and two sets of spinning figures. Oh, what a joy to make something beautiful for my eyes with your hands. I can see this causing me to unblock in my other scenic environments. Thank you Carla Sonheim, you gave me a great gift.
