This is what people think of when they think of a USB switch. None of the other cheaper designs that just "turn off" data but leave your device on. When you turn off a USB port, it either turns it off whenever you want, like a fan, or it lights up something of that nature, or it turns off vulnerable devices like thumb drives, phones, and fitness watches, rendering them inactive /or mass storage logic is not enabled. That's what I and other people like me wanted, and that's what we got. Not really paranoid about exfiltrating data, more like a virus that cripples our thermostat after spreading from a flash drive, what a pain in the ass π But from a practical point of view, you can use them to control the to control power to connected phones etc... in a USB-C battery pack with a 28w USB-C connector (actually a good 12-15w output) with a solar charger you can get from a car charger , as these switches are rated for USB 2.0 at 2.4A. I wish they had a replaceable 2.4A micro fuse built into the switch as I shorted out a USB device in my car and it popped out of the mini fuse in my car which was a little disconcerting. Having a mini-fuse connected to the car USB consistent with this switch would prevent this from happening, and possibly in the future with my solar system depending on how "smart" the overload detection battery pack I chose was, but if not a mini fuse would be a really nice added feature without increasing the much larger size. I'm not sure how hot this thing will be if you have a short like mine, which is alarming.
