Review on Enhance Ambience with Dimmable LED Candelabra Light Bulbs by Sarah Richards

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Great at first (but expensive), but after less than 2 years it starts to fail.

These bulbs were originally excellent, they shine well, very bright. But they originally cost me $30, which is $5 a bulb. Use it less than a few hours a day. Now the first one started flashing after 21 months and is now unusable. They are designed for 13.7 years. 5W x 3 hours per day x 30 days per month x 21 months = 9450W x hour = 9.5 kWh. At $0.12 per kWh = $1.14 energy cost per bulb. Each of them produces about 450 lumens according to the specification. An equivalent incandescent bulb is about 50 watts and costs about $1. This is 10 times the energy cost of an LED, which is about $11.40 for electricity. The cost of the LED = $5 for the bulb + $1.14 for the electricity = $6.14 cost and the cost of the incandescent lamp $1 + $11.40 = $12.40. So I think I'm still ahead. But it wasn't what was advertised! With a lightbulb that lasts almost 14 years, I expected to save 10 times every year! Now the products are much cheaper, so better ROI.

Pros
  • Giving Back - a portion of your Edison bulb purchase goes back to Watts of Love - a charity dedicated to bringing light to those who need it most.
Cons
