We've all had instances where manufacturers gave performance ratings with the magic asterisk "*UP TO". The "Before" number is never realistic - you get these numbers in a brand new system on the Full Moon and February 29th. I bought this CD thinking I'll be lucky if I get 80% of the number. Imagine my surprise when the numbers above * come before the numbers. Crucial rates this drive as "sequential read/write up to 560/510 MB/s". I used Crucial Acronis free software to clone my old drive. The process was easy and painless. Just plug in the drive, use Acronis and copy/clone the drive. Then simply swap the primary/secondary disks or change the boot order. On a Mac you don't even need any additional software, just mount the drive and hold down COMMAND + R while booting, use Disk Utility and "Recovery" and copy the drive. After that, select the new drive as the boot drive. My initial test and subsequent tests show 562.9 MB/s sequential read and 512.7 MB/s write. This is slightly higher than the promised figures. Also, it is an old cloned system with a 40% full disk. Since then I've run the tests several times, after many reboots and software installs, and they're pretty stable! I am more than satisfied with the performance!
