Review on Aqueon Fish Heater 10 Watt Plastic by Jennifer Moore

Revainrating 1 out of 5

If you already have or are considering buying a Betta Falls, do not purchase this heater.

I bought this little heater for my Aqueon Betta Falls from a pet store. I quickly realized that this was a very bad choice. Why? It doesn't have a thermostat, it just heats the water. I have 2 thermometers on my betta cases, one at the bottom with a heater and one at the top in a central reservoir. They differ by about 0.2 degrees Fahrenheit. This heater heats water according to the ambient temperature in your room. It was 72 degrees Fahrenheit in my room. This heater heated my betta to 88.9 degrees Fahrenheit. I turned my room thermostat to 60 degrees Fahrenheit and the water temperature at Betta Falls was 71.9 degrees Fahrenheit. I turned my heat back on to 70 degrees Fahrenheit, the betta drops went up to 84.9 and kept increasing. So it's a bad choice for Betta Falls. Then I went to the pet store and bought a 20w heater specifically designed for betta fish. TOPFIN is produced. It glows green when not heating and orange when heating. I see it very well. It has a thermostat set at 77 degrees Fahrenheit plus or minus 1.8 degrees Fahrenheit. It keeps my Betta Falls at a constant 78.4 degrees Fahrenheit with no noticeable deviation from my thermometers. This is acceptable in my book. This aqueon heater causes severe stress to your fish, which can lead to the death of the fish and your plants.
