
This monitor exceeded many of my expectations as some enthusiast forums have mixed opinions about it. I've tried 20 monitors over the past few years and have become very sensitive to monitor response times. The build quality is exceptional - don't let the plastic cover put you off, the stand is solid and sturdy without being overly heavy. Also, this panel comes with IPS Zero Glow - a first for any panel I've bought before (although yours may be different). Here's the thing about refresh rates, I think - you can't take them at face value. without GtG response time and overshoot. A 240hz monitor can look worse than a 120hz monitor when GtG isn't in the update window, and a super fast GtG monitor can look horrible when overdrive settings cause significant overshoot. So this panel meets the refresh rate requirement at "normal" OD with a <2.8ms response time and looks absolutely phenomenal in motion, outperforming all TN panels I've tried and rivaling CRT quality at maximum refresh rate. Asus has done a good job with the OD configuration as there is no noticeable overshoot. I measured 96.8% of the sRGB color gamut and volume, which is close enough to be considered <2.0 at deltaE. Take the calibration sheet that you get with a pinch of salt - if color accuracy is important to you, you'll need to buy a colorimeter anyway, as all panels have some variance from manufacturer. HDR isn't great - try it for yourself, but don't expect much. Finally, this isn't a wide color gamut monitor, so colors are accurate but not saturated as some would expect. If you allow me to joke, I would like to say that this monitor is absolutely worth the price. People are too concerned with resolution and large screen sizes and don't care enough about response time. Most 4k and 1440p monitors, even high refresh rate monitors, have terrible GtG times - and this results in significant motion blur and therefore poorer perceived resolution. The PG259QN is much sharper and clearer than my 4K monitor next to it due to its faster response time and easier work with high frames. All in all, this is almost the end of the game for me. I never play competitive games, don't believe the lies that this is for esports only. 80% of my Steam library can hit 300 fps with the RTX 2070, and the extra clarity really makes a difference. Highly recommended. Note. I've heard a lot of mixed reviews about the Alienware AW2521H - I wouldn't standardize on it just because it's cheaper. Some online measurements report that the OD is not fast enough to meet the update requirements and clearly overshoots even at higher OD settings. Just my two cents.
