This Velpeau Arm Sling with the abduction pillows is almost identical to the one prescribed by her Surgeon when she recently had a shoulder replacement on her right arm. They ordered it from a medical supply house and the surgeon had it available to place on her immediately after coming out of surgery. This one fit her perfectly but the one from the medical supply was actually a little large and it was a little too long on her arm so she had to tuck the ends under so her fingers would protrude thru the sleeve. Supposedly the supply house was supposed to have accurately measured her for a proper fit before her surgery but that never happened. She didn't know any better at the time but she will never let that happen again.I compared the two arm slings and the main differences was the Velpeau has a chest strap that hersdidn't have but in its' place her prescribed sling did have a very thick shoulder pad to absorb, I assume, the weight of her arm. The wife wasn't keen on the chest strap on this sling but she said she may be able to get accustomed to it. Also she really liked the exercise ball as provided on the Velpeau sling that her sling didn't possess.Overall this Velpeau Sling is every bit as good, quality and design wise, as the medical grade sling she received from her Surgeon and once she has surgery on her other shoulder she will be using this one in place of the one she was supplied with for her past shoulder surgery.
