About a year ago, a close friend had surgery on a shoulder that had been giving him trouble for years. During his recovery he was given one of these amazing pillows to keep him immobile on his right side, so as to help with healing.Shortly after that time, I had a vicious injury to my right rotator cuff, which left my arm in excruciating pain and the inability to perform simple tasks and lift anything of weight. The worst part was the fact that I’m a side sleeper, typically on my right side. Laying on that shoulder, especially with my arm out pretty much made sleep incredibly hard. Enter this amazing arm sling with abduction pillow.When I first pulled this pillow out of the package, I was amazed at how well constructed it is. The straps are sewn in, and the Velcro lines the pillows in the perfect places, with both the straps and Velcro fittings allowing for the perfect "customization” to fit one’s body and shape. The included instructions and measuring tape, help the wearer fit and position the abduction pillow right where it needs to be, thus allowing the shoulder to be positioned well, and for the arm to be at the right height, so as to avoid pain.While I have not had this product fit to me by a physician, I can say that it allows my arm to sit comfortably and rest in a way that brings relief when standing. When laying down, it does not allow me to be on my side, so I have to prop pillows under my left side, as I have trouble sleeping on my back.The material is durable, and the straps and clips are very strong. It is very large and a little cumbersome for one person to get in and out of (I have an amazing wife), but when worn it helps with shoulder pain.Pros: This is a well made pillow and the best feature is the sticky Velcro. It lets you put it right where it needs to be.Cons: It’s big, you bump everything! But then again, it does what it’s supposed to do.Final Thoughts: This is a wonderful alternative to having shoulder pain. I am very glad I got this pillow.
