I bought this Sony ICD-PX240 4GB recorder after buying a Tascam DR-05 for solo audio recording and I have to say that I am very impressed with the quality of this Sony recorder compared to the more expensive Tascam. If you connect a quality microphone to this unit, I don't think you will be able to tell it apart from other more expensive audio recorders. The only negative thing about this machine is that the menus are difficult to understand when you first explore this machine, unlike other more user-friendly menu screens. Don't throw away your manual because you'll probably have to go back and refer to it from time to time when you have a break from using it because without it you wouldn't be able to remember what all the menu shortcuts mean.
