Review on GEARWRENCH 8" Pitbull K9 V-Jaw Dual Material Tongue And Groove Pliers - 82168C by Mike Roe

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Good first impression

I haven't had a chance to actually use these yet, so these are just some first impressions:I chose this slip joint plier mainly because of the "flush rivet" joint and the good reviews here (including those that mention the "soft" pliers that are part of the molded handle). I'm hoping the flush rivet joint will not be subject to the loosening that I occasionally encounter on pliers with a simple screw style joint. Hopefully the rivet joint will hold up. The tool feels solid and the end of the jaws have a cross-hatch surface that seems like will really bite into material for a good grip.I gave this 4 stars instead of 5 stars because I haven't had a real opportunity to use the tool yet - I'm guessing it'll move to 5 after I've put some miles on it. In all honesty, I probably won't think to update the review (on the other hand, if it breaks. I'll be back).I selected these pliers over the similarly priced ($15 or so at HD) DEWALT 8" Flush Rivet Slip Joint Pliers, but I'm sure I'd be happy with either one.For those where country of origin matters, the packaging says:Test, Designed, Engineered in the USAProduct of VietnamFinished in Mainland ChinaI'm not sure what part of manufacturing belongs in the "product of" category and what belongs in "finishing".The package states it has a Lifetime Warranty.
