Review on TOOLIOM Welder Voltage Welding Machine by Michael Keitt

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Could be a contender!

I bought this unit primarily as a 110v repair/maintenance tool. I started testing in 110 mode and after getting used to the controls I started with both .030 and .035 to work flux cores. Both performed well, despite the lack of a synergistic setting for .030Stick mode was good, v 3/32 6013 and 7018 performed very well. Hot Start and Arc Force Control were comfortable. The problem occurred with solid wire/gas welding. It was just that the synergistic controls didn't work, large high-altitude welds that looked like night owls were all he produced. Using precise voltage and inductance settings did little. The gas mix with synergic control is 20/80, while 25/75 seems to be the norm here in the States. I can't believe the 5% difference explains this, as one reviewer mentions, but in the end the welds are unacceptable. I went no further than packing it in a return box. An additional downside is the coil clamp, I only used small coils so can only speak to that. They use a simple clamping system with a threaded bolt and spring tension on the wing washer controlled by a wing nut. The problem is that the spool unwinds clockwise and the wing nut on the stud is tightened clockwise as it is a standard right hand thread. Guess what, he freezes into immobility, and when he turns around, he does it chaotically. I've improved this by buying a nylon washer to reduce friction and using a nylock nut, but you don't need to convert something so simple into a brand new product. a few more customization options, it could be a nice car but I say forget it until they get the job done right.

Pros
  • Dual voltage input version: The welder can be connected to a dual voltage of 110 (120) V / 220 (230) V (automatic setting).
Cons
  • Crumpled
