I used the SP51 that came with the pedals. After falling and being stuck in traffic no less, I decided to try these. I find the SP56 spikes to be easier to detach. My pedals are set to the lowest possible tension. Nevertheless, hovering is enough without letting go (more than with the SP51) and kicking up is also no problem. When going uphill, the pedals would not release when pulled up. I use them on my road bike, not my mountain bike, just because I need cycling shoes that I can run in without looking like a duck. Release the tip. But with the SP56 cleats it's a lot quicker and it makes me feel a lot more confident knowing I can unbuckle quickly. Still not as secure as flat pedals, but if you want to connect to your bike this is the way to go. I would highly recommend them to anyone who is not an elite competitor and especially those starting out with clips.
