Works normally in my old DVD recorder

Only "1x-16x" DVD-R discs work in my old ten year old recorder - it requires a low range. Only Sony seems to be making discs like this anymore. My recorder rejects about 1 in 20 of these discs saying "Self Test". The rest works fine.
