Frustrating, not responding with the stylus after scanning and security concerns

Not sure if ours is broken or not but this toy didn't do anything it should. This seemed like a great idea for toddlers and preschoolers as they are always happy to help out at the inspection desk. So we excitedly opened them. The packaging wasn't as difficult to open as some of the toys you'll come across. Batteries are included, but the "scanner" just beeps. I'm pretty sure it should say "Nice job!" , or other platitudes to teach children about numbers, shapes and colors. For example: One of the "tasks" he often gives is to scan something square. My daughter did it and nothing happened. I tried it with all settings, no difference. Also, there's a small safety issue for toddlers who aren't as stable on their feet. The basket is rollable and has a handle that can be lowered or removed. There is a locking feature on the side to keep the handle in place. Well, once again we failed. Thus, the handle is not always held up. As I said, I hope not everyone has experienced it, but we were very disappointed with this toy. My kids lost interest pretty quickly. It doesn't give you a "reward" for scanning the right shape, number, object, or color.
