Review on 🔒 Fasteners with High Capacity - ACCO Brands Self Adhesive by Todd Markel

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Used to be a money saver - more NO

**Original Review** > Only thing I would change about it is make the adhesive stronger. They tend to (sometimes) move away from the folder. I often use duct tape to reinforce them when assembling folders just for extra security. But these fasteners help defray the cost of office supplies because if you buy them in advance, they cost three times as much. It only takes a few minutes to assemble them into a folder. It takes a bit of practice to get them centered properly so the pages in the file don't crease etc. but once you get the hang of it (after a day or two, it's easy) you'll save money and they won't be any less useful than those that come with brackets already installed. I think they are worth the few minutes it takes to put them together. ***UPDATE 12/13/18*** > I've been using them for about four years and have always been happy with them. Until recently. ACCO has apparently started to cut corners on this once-convenient device. Now the aluminum used is so thin that the pins break off after just a few open/close movements, leaving a very sharp piece of metal and unsupported documents in the folder. ACCO now produces pure crap when it comes to this item. I then switched to SMEAD mounts with excellent adhesive strips and excellent flexible pins to keep your documents safe. I cannot recommend using the ACCO version of this product more. For just a few dollars more, SMEAD produces a much better product while still saving you money compared to binders that already come with clasps. *** To make alignment easier, just take your document with pre-cut holes, build a document in an open folder where you know it won't hurt once you close the folder, and just use a pen or pencil to mark the location in each hole. REMOVE ADHESIVE STRIPS AND ADJUST MOUNTING HOLES FOR ERROR-FREE INSTALLATION.
