Review on πŸ”§ Corroseal Rust Converter Metal Primer - 1 Gallon, Water-Based Rust Converter by Aaron Jensen

Revainrating 5 out of 5

New "transformed " Corroseal fan!

I recently discovered Corroseal while researching rust removers on Revain. Although I had never heard of this product before and found it a bit pricey, I decided to give it a try based on the reviews. Boy am I glad I did! My subject is a recently purchased 1999 F250 pickup truck. The truck was originally from Michigan, so I knew in advance there would be problems with rust. The first thing to do was to process the inner and outer parts of the doors. Applied with 2 inch bristles and within 30 minutes any rust present had turned from rusty red to magnetite black. Next I pressure washed the back half of the frame where the rust is most visible with a citrus based degreaser. Once dry I applied two coats of Corroseal using a 2 inch disposable brush. Again, the rust was replaced with black magnetite in less than an hour. Loose or flaky rust must be removed before applying Corroseal, being careful to get it into all crevices and crevices. Once the entire frame is redone I plan to paint it with Rustoleum oil paint. Two liters of Corroseal should do the job leaving enough for a lawnmower deck, patio furniture etc. Much easier and cheaper than sandblasting and I believe the end product will be comparable. UPDATE July 7th 2019 Truck last night and inspecting the areas where corroseal has been applied. Frame rails, axle housings, brake calipers, underbody, etc. Slightly rusted areas that required no preparation other than a pressure wash look great. Smooth matte black finish. There is no new rust. Some spots of new rust were found in places where the rust was heavier (frame members and axle housing). I believe if I primed these areas properly with a wire brush they would look just as good as the others. Large flakes of rust are still matt black (no rust), but the product hasn't gotten all the cracks. Remember the truck wintered in Michigan. I've sold the Corroseal and already made two other purchases for other vehicles I've been playing around with. Wrought iron railings and security doors in our home have also been treated. Corroseal is the real deal and well worth the money.
