Review on Fluidmaster 400ARHRKP10 PerforMAX Universal Performance by Bobby Valadez

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Not quite complete/universal.

I had an old toilet that still had the old floating ball; Well, my toilet kept leaking into the bowl. To be honest, before installing it, I didn't even know how exactly the toilet or its components (fill valve/bypass valve/damper/etc) work. I decided to try this all in one kit because it seemed to be the most popular. This blue fill valve kit, model Fluidmaster 400ARHRKP10, is a newer model that is said to fill faster/quieter and has an adjustable roller clamp to control the level in the toilet itself. The other Fluidmaster 400AKRP10 (plain black fill valve cap) that was a few dollars cheaper is an older model. Kit includes: 2x 5/16" x 3" brass screws. 4x stainless steel washers, 6x rubber washers, 4x hex nuts) 1 tank lever 1 filling valve (10-15" adjustable) 1 purge valve (2" with damper . Now it's not quite "full" because my toilet requires 3 screws instead of two. Why couldn't they just include an extra spare screw? Oddly, they include extra rubber washers if you need a third screw (the manual only says to reuse the old screw if you need a third, but if it's rusted you'll need a new screw.) Bottom line, I have extra screws / Shims ordered from Kissler & Company Inc. 68-7321 Heavy Duty Tank and Bowl Bolt Set, solid brass. Who wants to reuse an old bolt/washer when you can swap everything out for a new one? Make sure you also use rubber washers on the bottom of the screws. not just on top of the water submerged bolts in the tank (otherwise it will leak; I had this problem initially from not tightening them) The hardest part was removing the old parts, especially since mine were all badly rusted, the instructions are actually quite complicated, especially since the second step suddenly shows a sketch with all the parts already attached and asks to saw off the overflow pipe MAKE SURE you put a rubber gasket not only on the inside of the cistern but also on the bottom outside outside and be careful pay particular attention to the "Correct Order of Hardware Parts" diagram where the metal case is The tiger nut at the very bottom is thicker than the hex nut that goes above it. (If you're in a hurry, think they're the same size) The orange gasket was a lot thicker than my old one and I was worried it wouldn't fit my toilet perfectly, but that seems fine. perform first; Once you tighten all those screws it will shrink. I had no knowledge of toilets before and don't consider myself very skilled, so I'm very proud that I was able to fix the toilet myself. YouTube is also your best friend. I will update my review if I encounter any issues. Pros: - Affordable / you get almost everything you need for a toilet replacement - Much nicer / cleaner / more compact than the old floating ball mechanism - Ability to adjust the amount of water in the toilet bowl yourself (with a blue turtleneck on the fill valve) - Easy to adjust the water level / flush strength in the tank. especially if your toilet needs 3 screws; The gasket may not fit - you will have to saw off the overflow pipe yourself
