Much easier to clean than a large strainer and works well. It's designed for slightly smaller pots, so I usually use it when I'm cooking a batch or two of pasta. You can use it in a large pan of pasta but you run the risk of losing some pasta down the sink - but still works well. Make sure you point the part of the handle up towards your hand and not down towards your hand when pouring, otherwise hot water may drip onto your hand, which isn't very fun. I bought a second one for a few bucks so I always have a clean one. I've had the first one for years and it's still holding up.
