Bought a used caravan and found there was no light on an old LP defector. Invested a little more and found it completely disconnected/cut wires. It was old, probably original, so I ordered this one. He stood right where the old block was, a little later he quickly crimped the connectors and that was it. Tested with butane, propane and a blown match, worked every time I tested it. For example, this is an LP/CO detector, but I don't know how well it works with CO since it's on the bottom for LP (when propane goes down, CO goes up higher). But whatever, I like the extra backup. Took the time to also replace old smoke alarms at Walmart with new ones for a few bucks and a new fire extinguisher (no recalled plastic handles!) from Amazon. It's best to be safe and make sure your hardware is up to date and working.
