These lights are advertised as motion detecting and can be adjusted to take into account the motion detection distance, the length of time the light stays on after motion is detected and the level of ambient light when motion detection becomes active. I'm now using LED motion sensors with Zebon sensor bulbs (X001T7HV6P), they have NO adjustments but reliably glow for about 30 seconds (or longer if motion persists) in response to motion when in the dark.
