I have a problem with green hair in my Fluval Evo. I'm near 0 nitrate so I know I have a phosphate problem (algae eat phosphate so my reading is a false 0). My aquarium is small so I found the smallest cube I could find, soaked it according to the directions and wrapped it in fine filter twine. My duncan didn't open for two days and my mushrooms shriveled up completely. I'm not sure if the cube was too big for my system or if there was something else the corals hated about it. I removed it (it will melt in your tank so be sure to wrap it with twine or before mechanical filtering). I did a water change and it took a few days to a week for my corals to look happy again. Oh, and I still have seaweed in my hair.
