Nothing cures complaints of boredom like playing with an adult so I fully support this toy because I love playing with it. I could leave footprints once or twice in my sleep. 😉 I bought this for a 2 year old and a 5 year old. I definitely think even 5 are on the young side because they play with it AS INTENDED, but they still have a lot of fun with it. They love stacking blocks, playing with marbles, putting marbles on tracks that I build for free and the 5 year old helps me build from plans and learns mechanics to make easy free builds. BUILDING TIPS: They need a solid build for their age. as much as possible, so I always start with a round base and keep the spiral parts low in the build (see photo). If you don't have marble traps on your way out, you can put a stopper in the middle of the big spiral and use it as the last element on the track to catch all the marbles.
