I bought this strainer as an easy way to save some water when cooking certain pasta dishes or to keep some water with pasta to keep it from sticking together. It works great and is designed for dishes of different sizes. I was NOT expecting to use the small silicone grips but found them perfect for protecting my fingers and nails when chopping herbs or grating veggies/cheese. If you like to roast corn in the husk, you can also very well remove the husk and silk from the corn while it's still hot. Handy dandy tools!
