Volume measurement EXCELLENT

One of the main reasons I bought this scale was the volume conversion for accurate baking measurements. When I first used it, I tried to measure the amount of water for my triple portion of bread. WOW, I thought, my measuring cups are PERFECT, PERFECT. I've tried different measuring cups, different brands of cups and they've all been wrong - the measurement showed I had a cup of water when it was about 1/8 cup in it. Try the recipe with 4 cups of water and that's a 1/2 cup difference. Not unimportant. After a little testing, I found that the weight of a cup of water should be 236 grams. So I tried again, this time with grams on the scale. 236 grams - right on the cup on my measuring cup. When measured volumetrically, a "cup" of water weighed 206 grams. Approximately 13% error. I have worked in the laboratory for many years and am familiar with handling this type of balance. The container was used correctly and the measurements were repeated several times - with the same result. Although the scale shows the exact weight, the volume conversion does NOT work. At least on the scale I received. I'm sending it back for an exchange and will see if the next scale is better. If the results you are getting with this scale indicate that your measuring cups are out of range, I would suggest you test them with water. 1 cup should weigh 236 grams. Using water eliminates any errors caused by ingredient compaction, moisture, etc.
