I've been struggling with this for the last hour and a half. Even the pins on the factory parts don't make permanent contact, let alone the ones you try to connect yourself. Take the L-shaped connector for example. The connector is an L-shaped ribbon cable, and on each end you have a plastic connector that you connect your lights to. When I connect my lights, the part where the ribbon cable connects to the plastic connectors (factory fitted) has bad contacts - when you pinch the plastic connector where it connects to the ribbon cable to physically force your lights to connect , then light up. This kind of terrible quality control is unforgivable. It doesn't say anything about how incredibly difficult it is to hook up lights to these things because the pins are so tight you can't push your lights in unless you use a very thin screwdriver or Xacto knife to get around to pry them up. In the meantime my string of lights is starting to wear out at the terminals just trying to get this thing to work and I'm getting closer to throwing away the whole string of lights the more I struggle with it.
