My use is a garden sprinkler controller that uses a 9V NiCd battery as a backup battery for programming (why can't these things be used become? EEPROM?) . Since the battery stays on constant controller charge 100% of the time, I didn't think it made sense to replace it with a rechargeable NiMH battery. I'm not an expert on battery chemistry, especially multi-cell batteries, so I went with NiCad. They showed 8.9 volts on the multimeter, which I think is good for NiCad batteries that nominally produce 1.2 volts per cell. I'm assuming this battery uses 7 cells (for a nominal 8.4V). Just received them so no information on if they will hold up but I assume they will be ok. If I notice a problem I'll try to remember to update the review. I took off a star because $21+ seemed steep for two 9 volt batteries, but that's not fair as it's still the lowest price I could find. That's why I sent the star back.
