Review on Dremel 8 Inch Carbide Grout Removal by Paul Dye

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Not suitable for grouting hard floors

I was removing some old tile from the bathroom floor and the grout was very hard. My first attempt was with a hand grout remover. No luck, I would dull the blade by removing less than 6 inches of joint compound. My second thought was my Dremel. Gave this racquet around 10 minutes of use before giving up. Less than an inch away. The only reason I didn't downgrade it to 1 star is that it might work for softer grout or wall tile. Just note that this is not suitable for grouting hard floor tiles. FYI, a 4.5 inch angle grinder ($40) with a diamond blade ($8-9) cuts through tough grout like butter. It was a little more investment, but it was worth it. Make sure you have dust masks and goggles. The mill kicks up tons of cement dust.

Pros
  • Removes grout 3/8" below surface
