This measure should be viewed as a rough guide for space-shifting cooks to more consistently measure portions from meal to meal, rather than as a tool for making the "rightβ amount of nutritional pasta, and users need to adjust to this. the desired portion sizes. If you're on a diet, better use a scale that works with all types of pasta, not just spaghetti. Also keep in mind that most of the calories in pasta dishes come from the sauce, not the pasta itself, and Americans tend to serve pasta with a lot more sauce than Italians (same goes for pizza toppings).
