Review on ๐Ÿ” PANGAEA Portable Digital Gas Detector: Natural Gas Tester with Bright LED Screen, Propane Methane Gas Sniffer Sensor for Combustible Gas Detection by Corey Harris

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Runs on three AA batteries, rugged design

Its readings are digital and start at 0. There are no settings on it; the item description must be copied from another device. Turn it on, it slowly clicks to zero, becoming a high-pitched squeak when you spot a leak, or a lower-pitched tone for the general environment as you approach. Digital readings help pinpoint the area of high concentration, there is a few seconds delay before the reading stabilizes or an alarm sounds. It uses three AA batteries and the battery life is much longer than cheaper models that use AAA batteries. The body of the tool seems designed to be thrown into a tool bucket, explosion-proof and slippery with no sharp corners, so it can be easily ripped out of the tool bucket. It reads parts per million and doesn't know the LEL, the lower explosive level. It's just a ppm number. It squeaked pleasantly at the propane leak I found and pinpointed it so accurately that I could see the small hole it was leaking from right on the sensor. Dropped to zero in a few centimeters. Loud enough to be heard in industrial settings. Five stars.
