I really like that this filter can be cleaned and reused due to the obvious savings. every 80,000 km and this noticeably improves engine performance and fuel consumption. It has thin but high quality pleats of fabric, and there are far more of those than most other filters. However, I have never noticed any difference in engine performance, driving or gas mileage compared to other filters - no better performance than a quality OEM filter. The thin buckling material tends to make the engine noise a bit louder. I do not like it. The filter catches a lot of dirt and darkens with oil; I have found that mine needs cleaning every 30-35k miles and not the advertised 50k miles. However, for a long time. I also found a practical life limit of about 100,000 miles rather than the absurd "million miles" advertised. The material of the folds seems to wear off a bit after each cleaning/refreshing. Not for a long time. Now I LOVE the K&N ***cabin filter*** for the direct, noticeable effect it has on breathing and its economy. It is expected to last 100,000 miles and will need cleaning approximately every 12,000 miles; it almost fits. But this engine air filter, while not bad, does not live up to the high expectations that are placed on it. it doesn't seem to filter as well as a quality OEM.
