In short, citrulline is good for improving athletic performance and reducing fatigue. Citrulline is converted to arginine in the kidneys and improves blood flow better and longer than L-arginine supplementation itself. Empirical evidence suggests that citrulline supplementation improves nitric oxide, growth hormone, creatinine, plasma arginine, exercise volume, blood flow, erection , increases plasma nitrate and performance and reduces fatigue, blood pressure and muscle soreness. As such, citrulline is an excellent pre-workout or cardio supplement. Most citrulline on the internet is in the form of malate bound to malic acid. I prefer the flavor alone - or lack thereof - of L-citrulline.
