Big size! * Some rust

It was great! It was a great size for the price. Remember the corners are on the sharper end and don't forget to oil the block to prevent rusting. *Update: I oiled my block and left it in a dry place for a few weeks and when I got it back it was a bit rusty. Now I've tried different things to keep the rust from coming back. I'm new to stamping, but I have other steel tools and items that I've taken less care of and that haven't rusted. I don't know if this will affect the stamping but I could…

Pros
  • Pleased
Cons
  • Obsolete

Bought three of these units. Hardness varies slightly from hard to very hard (see below). . I could drill holes but needed the right tools and bits. This block was perhaps a bit soft for a hardened steel block. A bit of softness was perfect for my use. I could barely dent the surface of the next two, which are clearly MUCH harder than steel and probably a little better to use as a bench block. One star deduction for the hardness variability. All three are pretty good overall.

Pros
  • Quality construction
Cons
  • Requires outlet

Precision Ground, looks good quality.

I'm happy with it but didn't know what to expect. I was afraid it would be just a piece of cold rolled steel cut to approximate dimensions, but what I got is very good, finely ground, shiny and with no rounded edges (the edges are almost sharp, but not to that extent ). I'm worried about cutting my hands.) I checked the flatness of the surface and it turned out to be minimally wavy with a deviation of less than 0.001" (I had about 0.0004") and it was fairly flat over the whole surface. with a…
