Review on Nissin NDMG8000C MG8000 For Canon by Rick Vidaurri

This means more light loss if you want to keep the light from fading.

The first thing that struck me was that this flash is not compatible with the Nikon extension cable. So I had to get one from Nissin. It's very inconvenient to remember which one to use when using two cameras at the same time. The Nissin cable is not without problems either. It has a switch for in-camera use or external use. So if it accidentally shifts, you'll have no flash and no idea what's going on. Then I found that in manual mode (which I use all the time) it can't go faster than 1/32 in FP mode. IOW, if the camera is set to a faster sync speed, the flash will fire at 1/32 or slower. This wastes battery power because the ISO would have to be lowered or speeds over 1/320 couldn't be used on the D800. I had to buy a second battery pack to last a full day of flash photography with an external battery. Nikon SB910 lasts all day on one set of batteries with an external battery. And in manual mode in bright sunshine it is useless because of too much power at 1/32. This flash also doesn't come with a white card. Instead, they deliver a white dome. This means more light leakage if you don't want the light to rise high like with the white card out, not to mention the white dome illuminating your short lens when using that front mount flash. I would definitely not recommend this flash. Nikon SB910 can run at any speed.
