First, I've seen a lot of feedback that the chin guard doesn't stay secure. I suspect these users didn't have it fully installed. On my big FG-17, it took a lot of effort to get the tabs to fit completely between the shell and the EPS. It feels very solid now that it's finished, and I've put the helmet on and off (and used it on highways and trails) with no noticeable shifting or loosening. So in general it was difficult to install - while not difficult, it holds up very well. It fits the opening quite snugly so it's a little uncomfortable putting the helmet on and off and rubbing against part of my face. But once the helmet is on, you don't feel it. During the ride, this ensures a slight reduction in air circulation in the helmet. I don't think this will really reduce wind noise, but it will provide a slight increase in warmth due to slower airflow to the face. It's a pretty fine mesh; If you want to maximize the warmth of your helmet I would suggest adding your own layer of less breathable material (velcro, a few stitches, glue?).
