I've always wanted to try this. I'm glad I bought it. Good price around $35. I'm rating this 4 stars because it doesn't work for everyone. In fact, anyone who is a fan or a radio amateur will have multiple AM radio stations and then your chances of success will increase. Sony ICF-18 and Optimus 12-604 (with antenna inputs). My test consisted of trying to pull up a weak station next to a strong station. Your results will depend on the design and sensitivity of your radio. It worked very well with the ICF-38. The signal improved at least 5-fold. Wonderful! This didn't help at all with a digital ICF-19 with "rotary tuning" because it is already extremely sensitive. It worked fine with ICF-18. This radio is not as sensitive as others and did little to help. It didn't help at all with Optimus, not even with the antenna input. I will keep this item and use it with the Sony ICF-38 which is my best AM radio ever. good luck
