worked for me in Accessories and consumables

I have an AM/FM receiver with a disc player and I can connect this receiver to my TV using audio/video cables. This severely damaged my Am radio. I bought this and hooked it up to my radio and it helped a lot, almost all static was gone. It still connects to my TV and I don't have to buy a separate speaker for it. I just press AUX and play the TV sound through the receiver. You have to find the right angle and then turn the knob on the antenna and use the hook, otherwise it won't work. Now I…

There is no better antenna. Lots of trial and error required

It does exactly what it's supposed to do. This doesn't mean it can pick up signals from the middle of a metal-roofed office building with many sources of interference. However, this antenna doesn't bother me as it is simply a natural disadvantage of AM reception. The design is appealing, but the build quality feels a bit cheap. The hinge is made from clear acrylic, which means it's likely to yellow over time, especially if placed in a sunlit area (like a window where most would likely try to…

Pros
  • Great price
Cons
  • Doubtful

This antenna really works and is much better to use than the AN200 model. The large base allows the use of additional filters or amplifiers. It is much easier to install on a flat surface and a small radio can be placed in it, greatly improving signal strength. The quality factor is very high (we measured almost 800+ with no load) and it has very good neighbor rejection, which is good if you want to cancel out the neighboring frequency. The internal space allows us to add additional…

Pros
  • Excellent overall performance
Cons
  • Some bugs

Great AM loop antenna, but a little bigger than you think!

This is an excellent loop antenna for collecting AM radio signals. It's passive, so it doesn't require power. The tuning knob maximizes reception on the frequency you are trying to track. I use this with Sangean WR-22. I suffer from electrical interference like many modern homes. The loop antenna works with the magnetic portion of the RF signal and can be rotated to "cancel" electrical noise. Most radios, including my WR-22, have an internal ferrite rod antenna and work well if you rotate the…

Efficient, easy to use

These tunable loop antennas are the most cost-effective way to improve AM radio reception in your home. Radio Shack used to sell a similar product with a black plastic bow, but these items were unavailable for many years. It's nice to know someone else is still making them. In most cases it is not even necessary to attach this antenna to the radio; Just bring it a few feet to the radio. Simply tune into a station on the radio, enlarge the antenna and fine tune with the knob at the base of the…

Pros
  • Few competitors
Cons
  • Unreliable

I've always wanted to try this. I'm glad I bought it. Good price around $35. I'm rating this 4 stars because it doesn't work for everyone. In fact, anyone who is a fan or a radio amateur will have multiple AM radio stations and then your chances of success will increase. Sony ICF-18 and Optimus 12-604 (with antenna inputs). My test consisted of trying to pull up a weak station next to a strong station. Your results will depend on the design and sensitivity of your radio. It worked very well…

Excellent product, highly recommend this antenna

I had doubts about this antenna before buying it. Turns out this is one of my best purchases! At a flea market I bought a Yamaha AV receiver model RX-V371 for my garage cave. I live in the city (Saint Paul, Minneapolis) and unfortunately I can't connect to my favorite AM station, WCCO 830, to listen to Minnesota Twins baseball games. The signal is strong in my area, but there was so much noise and interference in my garage that I could barely hear the station. I hooked up one of those cheap…

Pros
  • Solid construction
Cons
  • Without automation

I'm sure the people who returned this product just didn't use it properly or were impatient. If you have a radio like the GE Superradio, some of the Grundigs or other high end radios that already have great ferrite antennas, this antenna will show little improvement on strong signals. If you have a radio with a tiny ferrite antenna or no antenna at all, this loop will work wonders! I've tested this loop with all my radios and I have a lot of them. This unit does a great job of finding and…
