Review on Kaito AN-100: Tunable Loop Antenna for AM Radios- Compatible with Kaito, Sony, Panasonic, Grundig, and More by Kyle Robbins

Revainrating 5 out of 5

There is no better antenna. Lots of trial and error required

It does exactly what it's supposed to do. This doesn't mean it can pick up signals from the middle of a metal-roofed office building with many sources of interference. However, this antenna doesn't bother me as it is simply a natural disadvantage of AM reception. The design is appealing, but the build quality feels a bit cheap. The hinge is made from clear acrylic, which means it's likely to yellow over time, especially if placed in a sunlit area (like a window where most would likely try to use it). While I can't say for sure that it has significantly improved reception for me, technically it "works". In some cases it is better to do without an antenna. This requires a lot of trial and error. This is a gadget for radio amateurs who are not averse to experimentation, not for those who demand consistent and instantaneous results.

Pros
  • Great price
Cons
  • Doubtful
