Review on ☕ MIRA 18 oz Stainless Steel Insulated Tea Infuser Bottle for Loose Tea - Thermos Travel Mug with Removable Tea Infuser Strainer in Pearl Blue by Todd Wigfall

Gives your tea the taste and smell of plastic.

When I received this mug I thought, 'This is exactly what I was looking for!' I washed it thoroughly with soapy water, rinsed it and then brewed Scottish breakfast tea which I really like . I waited a bit to see if the tea would stay hot (which it did) then took a sip. My mouth filled with an unpleasant plastic taste! I spat it out in the sink and sniffed the tea in the cup through the lid and it was gross! After the examination, it stunk from the lid! I've rubbed it several times with several soaps and it still has a bad plastic smell and taste, although not that bad, it's still very noticeable. My wife tried to sneak out with it but she returned it and said that the taste and smell of her tea was terrible. I've used it as a thermos because it works really well (well enough not to mess with returns) but I can't use it for a travel tea mug as intended. I'm hoping the plastic taste and smell will eventually go away after a few washes, but for $20 that shouldn't have been an issue to deal with. This would be a great mug but the lids are poor quality Chinese "non-food" plastic. Pity! UPDATE: The plastic taste/smell is finally gone, but it wasn't for long. I have found the seal on the lid to blow out and leak, but opening the spout while opening and closing the gap keeps the seal in place and does not leak, keeping my tea hot for many hours. I love it now and use it every day! I'm still worried about the plastic issue but if it weren't for that this would be a five star product and I'd be buying a bunch for gifts.
