Review on ABN Brake Tools: Complete 15-Piece Brake Kit with Caliper Tool, Drum Puller, & Adjusting Tool by Enrique Espinoza

Neat kit but the brake springs are too small and bent on first use.

I really wanted this kit to be my favorite! I love that it has a neat and tidy carrying case. I can put it away without throwing 10 grand at the bottom of a bag or drawer. Good. The rest of the instruments look good enough. Good. But I bought this for a brake spring tool. So the first use went well. The brake spring tool in this kit is too short for my springs. I had to work REALLY hard! My hands hurt and I had to use pieces of pipe over the grips for extra leverage and to protect my hands. FYI, it has a sharp feather removal head right where your palm is (just like theirs). So it digs into your skin. If they made the handles 3 inches longer you would have all the leverage you need. The whole point of the tool is to give you leverage, so it doesn't work. On the third and fourth try (different side brakes) it was almost impossible to use. I might have had to rotate them 180 degrees, but they kept sliding. I got to 1/4 inch from spring engagement and was vibrating, at the limit of my strength and pain tolerance. And I just couldn't get the last 1/4 inch. It would fail and bounce back. I bent the instrument. Then I set up the tool in a vise. And tried again. After half an hour I bent the instrument 4 times and straightened it again. It began to take on a zigzag shape. I ended up pulling the spring just over the yoke and tapping it with a hammer to make sure it was properly seated. The instrument was out of order. The central bolt holding it together looked torn off. The arms looked bent. I don't fit in a plastic case anymore. Is this a disposable tool? I thought I would add an instrument to my kit. But I could use it to do my brakes ONCE! I would avoid this set. Find a set of thicker (or high carbon tool steel) and definitely longer grips.
