There are two reasons some people have problems with this product: 1) they don't know what they bought and 2) they don't understand how this powerband works is working. This extension works 100% as it should without any issues. The device connected to the master socket controls 5 slave sockets. When this unit is turned on, ALL 5 slave sockets will also be turned on. When this device is off, ALL 5 slave terminals are also off. The 5 slave sockets cannot work independently like a normal power strip. There are also 2 other ALWAYS ON sockets that you can use independently from the main socket. Another thing some people might miss - and the instructions don't help - is the slide switch at the top of the extension. If you find that slave socket devices won't turn on or off without turning the master socket on or off, you need to move the switch to the middle or last position. This compensates for the power consumption of the device in the main socket and fine-tunes the additional sockets. This extension cord has 5 stars - just know how to use it.
