Fatal Failure by Switch/Left/Right Mechanism

Honestly, this is a screwdriver. How do you screw up a man-machine interface on a goddamn screwdriver? Buy Hammerhead and see for yourself. If you look at the picture you will see a blue plastic band at the end of the tip. This is not an ornament. This is the left/right rotary control. Imagine you are holding the driver in your hand. You have to extend your thumb and forefinger to grab the ring. The rest of your fingers should be snug against the rest of the screwdriver shaft as the force required to operate the screwdriver is significant. You can do this if naturally holding the driver in front of you is unnatural or uncomfortable. It is also tiring because of the force required. After a few minutes the arm starts to cramp, which was a new experience for me. Now imagine you are using it to hang cabinet doors and you have to point the drive back toward you to access the screws inside the cabinet. Because your arm doesn't bend that way, you have to keep the driver in reverse, but there's a problem with that. Now you cannot activate the controls on the driver. With two hands you need to control the driver, and with the other hold the cabinet door. Given that a normal person rarely has more than two hands, this can be a problem. Also, it's not great for laptops or other delicate projects, as its high torque will overwhelm and shear off tiny screws if you're not extremely careful. Given the extremely clumsy and cumbersome nature of the control mechanism, it's very difficult to be extremely careful and so you're likely to mess up the bolts/bolt holes. Surprisingly, this also applies to screws in wall sockets. When installing the outlet cover, I accidentally twisted it too tight and it broke. Not a big deal, but it does point out that it's difficult to control the power applied due to the awkward way you activate the driver. It's a shame, because the idea of a USB-compatible charging system, a compact body, an integrated AC detector in a compact body is very attractive.
