This jacket keeps my big baby's little body warm. He's 6 years old and very slim so he had no problem putting on this jacket which doesn't leave much room for layers. And if your kid is stocky, they'll be "lean," I assure you. But I understand they had to keep the fabric close to the body/arms to retain the heat the body generates. It makes sense because the fabric is thin, meaning there's a fabric, a thin layer of fluff, and a fabric. I have a down jacket on the north side and it is very fluffy and thick. I have also bought north facing jackets for my under 5 grandson, he gets a new jacket every winter so this year I wanted to see if I could spend less on his jacket without sacrificing warmth. I felt it was good work. I'm still suspicious of the warmth it offers, so I put my hand in an arm or body part to see if it's warm, and if so, can't complain. It doesn't get too cold in the southern state we live in, so I feel like everything's fine. I would go back to my North Side jackets for him if I lived in the northern states and I don't know if the jacket provides enough warmth, maybe it does, but my brain is attached to the nice thick thickness of the more expensive North Side. Blazer. I can not help myself! However, this is a great purple jacket. Will definitely buy again after its next upswing.
