I bought them hoping to reduce waste. The parameters I was looking for seemed simple enough, but only Softy straws fit everyone: (1) FOOD FREE (BPA-free, BPS-free, phthalate-free, PVC-free, etc.). While we originally looked at metal straws, the thought of a metallic taste and, worse, metal leaching was highly off-putting. (2) SOFT SILICONE. They should be used instead of disposable plastic straws, even at home and on the go. The last thing we (especially my kids) need is a chipped tooth from a metal straw in a pushed car or a little trip while walking. (3) GUARANTEED CLEANING. We tried reusable silicone straws with a detachable curve, but the connection was poor, resulting in using more air than liquid. When we switched to a more traditional straight straw, we anticipated using the small brush used to clean baby bottle teats. The included straw scraper eliminates the need to use a brush and is by far my favorite in product design. The scraper fits perfectly, tight enough that you can feel it scraping the edges of the straw as you push it through. With soap and water, the straws come out cleaner than any utensils hand washed with a kitchen sponge. (4) And finally CUSTOMER SERVICE. A straw was missing from our package. The Revain order has not yet expired so I wanted to clarify how I can return an item for a replacement while being confident that the product is not defective. I emailed the seller, Standard Modern Company, at 8:50pm West Coast hoping to get a response by noon the next day. Jake from Standard Modern Company replied to my email within 9 minutes, hilarious and eager to resolve the issue. After that, he and I quickly exchanged emails, and a day and a half later I was holding new straws. I can't fault this product or their customer service - nothing I want more - and I know we will be repeat customers as the straws go through their normal wear and tear.
