It really sticks!

Duck Clean Release Masking Tape was an alternative to the Scotch brand which I usually stock in a big box (orange), but with necessity for shelter space, I tried 3 packs of duck masking tape. PROS: It really sticks! A lot of! Well, a lot more than any other brand. The paint doesn't seep under the edges of the tape as much. It's good CONS: It really sticks! A lot of! But it makes it harder to remove and use because if you stick it in the wrong place (e.g. on a door frame) it's a lot harder to peel off and stick back in the right place. When applied to painted drywall, at least freshly painted drywall (after a day or so), it also tends to chip the paint covering it. I noticed this when I first painted the inside of the window frame and then a day or two later the window sill. It's not too much of a problem removing it from a painted wood window sill (to protect the window sill while I paint the surrounding drywall), but it's a much bigger problem when I then apply the new tape to the drywall (more than one day after painting). I painted the window sill, waited for it to dry, and removed the tape from the drywall. And the paint fell off (in some places) and stuck to the drywall. Like I said, this stuff is very sticky! If you accidentally apply masking tape while trying to stick it to a surface, you won't be able to separate the two sticky surfaces at all. Just throw that part away and start over. It would be a great product if it was a little less sticky but a little stickier than the Scotch brand.
