I tried a total of five different USB-C cables to connect an Android phone (Galaxy S8) to my car (2018 Nissan Murano) via Android Auto. This cable definitely works the best. The other two cables don't connect at all, and the third connects but disconnects with even the slightest hit to the connector and phone. Much of the blame for this problem lies with Nissan and its unreliable infotainment system. Whatever the reason, the system is very sensitive to the type of cable used. Cable Matters USB works great. I can use my phone while it's plugged in without breaking the Android Auto connection, and the Type-C connector seems a bit longer than others so it works well with my phone case. I don't have a fast charging cable. , but I get a "normal" charge, which is enough. For those who don't have a Samsung phone, you'll get three different charging notifications when you connect. Normal charging and fast charging notifications show the approximate time for a full charge of the phone. Normal charging 20% takes about 4 hours, fast charging takes about half. "Slow charging” is done with old cables or low-voltage adapters and takes six to seven hours. Slow charging doesn't even show the estimated time. Cable Matters' cable usually shows normal charging, and I have yet to find a cable that will charge my phone quickly while maintaining a stable Android Auto (data) connection.
