Review on πŸ”Œ P3 International P4460 Kill A Watt EZ Energy Monitoring Device by Ryan Vaughn

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Great idea. Works well, but DO NOT use with anything near the maximum rating (115V, 15A, 1875W) or it will burn out.

Four stars because the max voltage/amp ratings are incorrect and may need a redesign. But otherwise it works great. I've been using it for over 6 months. It is good for monitoring low voltage/amplifier devices. I hooked it up to my gaming PC (i5-4670k OC'ed, 750w PSU, GTX 770), including a 25" monitor, speakers, a table lamp, a large fan and several phone chargers, with no more issues than two months. I've tested countless small devices, laptops, lamps, fans, refrigerators, coffee makers, etc., with no problems. Now for the problems. The highs are a joke. It is rated for 125V, 15A, 1875W. or just broken P4460s when trying to control something near max. I hooked it up to a heater that draws between 500 and 1100 watts at a maximum current of around 9-10 amps. This is GOOD within specs, actually slightly lower than max specs. And within 3 days the device burned out and stopped working. I sent it back and got another unit and decided not to test anything that is 1000 watts or more. This block also needs to be redesigned. If they only contain 1 leg, an extra extension would solve most problems. Sockets to 2 standard sockets. It also doesn't have a backlight, so you'll need to bring a flashlight if it's in a dark place to be able to read the display. By adding a short extension cord, you can restore and reposition the second socket to better catch the light when trying to read the display. Overall I like this idea, it's great to be able to calculate exactly how much power a cheat really uses instead of relying on theoretical calculations based on manufacturer specs. I recommend this product but DO NOT use with heaters over 1000w or anything even close to the maximum rating.
